John L. "Jack" Turner's Obituary
Decatur – John L. “Jack” Turner, 90, of Noblesville, IN, formerly of Decatur, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017 at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, IN.
Jack was born July 9, 1926, in Syracuse, NY, the son of John and Elsie (Dehm) Turner. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Jack worked as a Senior Control Analyst for Illinois Power retiring in August 1988 after 38 years. He was a member of Ss. James and Patrick Parish, Knights of Columbus Darrell W. Beck Council #577 and the American Legion. Jack married Cynthia Walden April 30, 1996 in Decatur and she preceded him in death April 3, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents.
Jack is survived by two stepsons: Mark (Patti) Melton and Doug (Veronica) Melton of IN; stepdaughters: Melanie (Scott) Sutherland of MO, and Sheri Beaty of IA; 11 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren; cousin, Nancy of NY.
Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2017 from 12:00 pm until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Rev. John Burnette, celebrant. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ss. James and Patrick Parish.
