John Sanford Johnson, Sr.'s Obituary
John Sanford Johnson, Sr., 71, of Decatur, was called home to the Lord at 10:35 pm, on Fri, Jan. 26, 2007, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services celebrating John's life will be 1 pm Fri, Feb. 2, 2007, at Maranatha Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
John was born on Dec. 11, 1935, in Brownsville, TN, the son of Johnny Frank and Mary Emily Pugh Johnson. John professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He united with the Lower Salem Baptist Church in Brownsville, TN. Upon arriving in Decatur, he united with Northside Baptist Church.
John leaves to cherish fond memories, his sons: John Jr. Janet, Jodie Catherine, Donald, Damien Farrah, and Carlos; daughters: Margie Bass and Barbara Jerry Taylor; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; sisters: Cassy Pretty, Eva Pugh, Mary Brown, Mary Young, Lydell Walter Tyus, Betty Larry Thompson, and Jerlene Fry; brothers, and special Aunt, Annie Frank Park; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Josiephine and two children.
The family would like to thank Decatur Memorial Hospital Staff, Dr.'s Hasnain, Rhode, and Yu, Manor Care Nursing Home, Pastor Ron, Pastor Doug, and David.
