John E. Lair's Obituary
Decatur-John E. Lair, 82, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
John was born on August 13, 1929 in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Ernest and Lucille Ritter Lair. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Illinois and retired from Mueller Company. He loved to fly and had his pilot’s license. He married Joan Halberg on April 19, 1952 in Taylorville. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed.
Surviving are his wife Joan, sons, John S. Lair Cindy of Mt. Zion; James Lair of Manila, Philippines; Kevin Lair Laurel of Waxhaw, NC; daughter, Mary Travis Charles of Mesa, AZ; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Enid Campbell.
Funeral Liturgy will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Molloy officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead             Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Kidney Foundation.
