John Mintun's Obituary
John “Jack” Mintun, 75, of Decatur passed away at 9:45 pm on Monday, February 21, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jack was born on October 27, 1935 in Decatur the son of Lynn and Grace Meyers Mintun. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a retired switchman on railroad. He loved to play softball and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Leonora; children, Jesse Mintun Kathy of Decatur; Kim Nottingham Charles of Berkley; Laurie Mrozinski Stan of Trevor, WI; Gary Mintun Terri of Normal; grandsons: Jon Mrozinski, Michael Mrozinski, Marc Mrozinski, Jeremy Mintun, Joseph Mintun, Joel Nottingham, Joshua Nottingham, Jason Mintun, John Mintun; one great granddaughter, Emma Rose Mintun.
He was preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Lynn and William Mintun.
Funeral Services celebrating Jack’s life will be 10:00 am, Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Moran and Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Wray Offermann officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 ' 8:00 pm Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or LSA.
