John E. Templeton's Obituary
John 'Jack' E. Templeton (also known as Barney), 84, of Harristown passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jack was born January 6, 1929 in Springfield, IL, the son of John F. and Dorothy (Smith) Templeton. Jack loved fishing and watching St. Louis Cardinals ballgames. In his spare time, he also enjoyed gardening, camping, telling war stories and spending precious time with the grandkids. He served proudly for his country as a medic in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and he worked at PPG in Mt. Zion for 30 years. He married Alice 'Jane' Chaffin on August 31, 1956 in Decatur, IL, and they shared 56 wonderful years together.
Jack leaves behind his wife, Alice 'Jane' Templeton; daughters, Paula (Alva) Jordan of Harristown, IL; Linda (Rick) Boone of Chicago, IL; Jackie (Jeff) Runyen of Maroa, IL; Dawn (David) Forbes of Harristown, IL; Angi (Chad) Dodson of Harristown, IL; sister, Betty Kirner of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer, Wendy, Max, Samantha, Raymond, Paul, Toby, Tyler, Michael, Dawnyelle, Amy, Damion, Seth, Sierra, Darius; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services to celebrate Jack's life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Macon County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jack may be made to the family. The family would like to request that everyone dress casual for the services.
