Joseph Neal Ewing's Obituary
Joseph Neal Ewing, 59, of Decatur, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at VA Illiana Healthcare System, Danville.
Joe was born November 17, 1948, in Decatur, the son of Edgar J. and Charlotte L. Cook Ewing. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, Joe worked as a cell operator at Mueller Co. for nearly 30 years prior to retiring in 2000. He was a Ford Mustang enthusiast and enjoyed going to car shows and loved working on his own classic cars. For his service in Vietnam, Joe received the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/One Oak Leaf Cluster, VN Cross Of Gallantry w/Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star and Two Overseas Bars. He married Pamela J. Dickson November 2, 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Marsha Wayne Pittenger; grandsons: Nate and Noah Pittenger; mother, Charlotte; sister, Sherrie Loney; brother, Randy Debby Ewing; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law: Terry Eva and Jim Debbie Dickson all of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters.
Graveside Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Point Pleasant Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. There will be no visitation. Memorials: Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
