Joyce Brozio's Obituary
Joyce Darlene Weybright Brozio, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Decatur, IL.
She was born in Blue Mound, IL, on October 11, 1939, to the late Francis Edwin Weybright and Frances Bernice Etherton Weybright. When she was 15 and he was 18, she met Walter Brozio at the cafe inside a local filling station. While her parents didn’t initially want them to date, they found a way to see one another through a series of double dates. On November 30, 1958, they were married at Salem Baptist Church, where she remained a member.
While Joyce had worked in manufacturing and assembly for a time during the 1960’s, most of her life’s work was as a homemaker. She enjoyed supervising her husband doing yardwork and especially loved to watch the flowers bloom afterward. She was a good cook when she felt like cooking (especially her deviled eggs), though she usually preferred to dine out.
Over their years together, Joyce and Walter managed to travel to all fifty states and several places throughout Canada. For a while they would go to Branson, MO, every year to go dancing and watch the shows. They also made a point to go visit their children and grandchildren in Missouri and in Utah.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, James Weybright and Edwin Weybright.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter Brozio; children, Gregory Brozio and wife Annie, Terri Dawson and husband Frank; brothers, Edward Weybright and Gary Weybright and wife Sharon; sister, Nancy Weybright; grandchildren, Jeremy, Matt, Connor, and Norah; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Brooklyn, Boston, Dakota, and Dylan; great-great-grandchildren, Easton and Paislee; as well as many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family of Joyce Brozio will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. the following day, Friday, April 10, 2026, with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery.
