Joyce Darlene King, 89, of Decatur, formerly of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, September 20, 2007 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be 10:00 am Monday, September 24, 2007 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00pm Sunday, September 23, 2007 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
Joyce was born on March 29, 1918 in Hillsboro, IL the daughter of Robert and Edna Denham Campbell. She owned and operated a ceramic shop. She married Kenneth King on August 18, 1935, he died on August 18, 1959. Joyce lived in Hillsboro all of her life until moving to Decatur the fall of 1998. Besides her family Joyce had many friends at the Oxford House whom she enjoyed playing cards with. Her hobbies included reading, men’s Illini Basketball team, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Surviving are one daughter; Thelma Clarence Christy of Decatur; three grandchildren; Brenda Doug Collier of Decatur, Karen Mark Finch of Decatur, Ken Kim Christy of Decatur, a special adopted grandson; Long Clayton of Hillsboro, five great-grandchildren; Christy Collier Fiancee, Tim Lehmkuhl, Jr. of Missouri, Jacob and Wade Collier of Decatur, Chelsie Finch of Decatur, Autumn Christy of Decatur, one great-great-grandchild; Jayla Woodland of Decatur, and one nephew; David Campbell of Colorado.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Robert Campbell.
