Joyce Urban's Obituary
Joyce (Thomas) Urban, 88, passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2025, in her daughter’s home in Springfield, Illinois.
Born on October 4th, 1936, in Troy, NY, Joyce was a graduate of Troy High School and attended HVCC. Joyce lived in Wynantskill for over 60 years and was active in St. Jude’s while her 3 children attended. After retiring from the State of New York, Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family with her husband William "Bill" of 66 years.
Joyce loved the Caribbean where she vacationed annually in Aruba. Her homemade quiche was legendary. Easter egg hunts, Christmas candy bags were always anticipated by her grandchildren. Joyce always looked forward to the front door opening and her home filled with fun and laughter. Joyce always made sure the cookie jar was full and there was ice cream in the freezer. She enjoyed Labor Day lobster bakes with family and friends.
She is survived by: husband William "Bill" of Van Rensselaer Manor; children, William C (Debbie) of Englewood FL, Stephen (Sheila) of Conroe TX, and Maryanne of Springfield IL; eight grandchildren, Chris (Lisa) , Michael, Rebecca (Ted), Chelsea, Elisabeth (Daniel), Sarah, Stephen (Ashley), and Jesse; seven great-grandchildren, Thomas, Isabella, William, Gracelyn, Charlie, Lewellen and Aailyah.
A Christian Celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on August 28th at 12:00PM EST at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy followed by The American Legion in Wynantskill.
