Judith Y. "Judy" Worthey's Obituary
Decatur - Judith Yvonne Worthey passed away on the afternoon of Monday, October 19, 2020.
She was born on July 4th, 1940, in Herrin, IL to Thomas & Lela Gerhardt Perrine. Judith graduated from Herrin Township High School in 1958. She worked at Production Advertisement Agency, and Egyptian Lines in Herrin, IL. Judith then moved to Decatur, Il, to work at Tie Freight, Gorham Insurance, Millikin Magna Mortgage, and finally retired from Decatur Public Schools. On June 4, 1966, she married the love of her life, Earl Eugene ‘Gene” Worthey. She became the First Lady of Gospel Chapel Church.
Along with her Husband, Pastor Gene Worthey, their ministry and music is known all over the world. Judith had various hobbies including crochet, word finds, and playing/teaching music. One of Judith’s favorite pastimes was watching “Wheel of Fortune”. Judith is known for her homemade peanut butter and chocolate fudge. Her claim to fame is operating the Gospel Chapel Peanut Brittle Factory.
Judith is survived by her sons: Philip (Anne) Worthey, and Christopher Worthey; grandson, Andrew Worthey; great granddaughter, Olivia Worthey; many nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great-great nephews. Judith is also survived by extended family members: grandchildren, Pvt Christopher (Cari) Polmounter, Jeremy & Jermon Walker, Alissa, Alayna, Chase & Noah Egan; great grandchildren: Jax & Hadley Polmounter.

Judith was preceded in death by: her loving husband, Earl Eugene (Gene) Worthey; parents: Thomas & Lela Gerhardt Perrine; brother, Charles C. Perrine; sister, Charlotte Helen Glasgow; brother-in-law, Burl Glasgow; sister-in-law: Renorma Perrine; and Canine companion: Bow.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 25, 2020, from 3 to 5 pm at Maranatha Assembly of God Church, Decatur. Private family burial will take place at Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
