Julie Sheumaker's Obituary
Julie Jean (Pankey) Sheumaker, 71, of Oakley passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 in St. Mary's Hospital.
A memorial service to celebrate Julie's life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
Julie was born February 10, 1941 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Burl and Mary (Fleming) Pankey. She went to school at Eisenhower and was a co-editor of the year book. She graduated in the class of 1959 and was a part of the reunion committee for Eisenhower, MacArthur and Stephen Decatur. She also spent her time as a Cub Scout Den Mother and 4-H leader, was the manager at Marvel-York Credit Union and the past president of Ralph G. Long Chapter of Credit Unions. She retired as a teller supervisor from Staley Credit Union. She married Gary Sheumaker on September 4, 1960 in Decatur, IL. He survives.
Julie leaves behind her husband; son, Gregory Sheumaker of Hammond, IL; daughter, Debra (John) Freeman of Hammond, IL; four grandchildren; W Nash and Katrina Freeman of Hammond, IL, and Kayla and Jami Sheumaker of Cerro Gordo, IL; brother, Francis Pankey of Texas; and sister, Joy Ann (Gerald) Shulke of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Kimberly Sheumaker and brother, John Pankey.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Shackelford and his staff and to St. Mary's ICU staff.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kimberly Sheumaker Memorial Scholarship fund @ the State Bank of Cerro Gordo.
