Justina Wynne's Obituary
Justina Wynne was born June 1, 1937, in Brownsville, Tennessee to Vernida Martin Perkins and Rufus Perkins. She was educated in the Brownsville, TN public school system. Justina relocated to Decatur, Illinois, in 1964.
Justina married the love of her life, Wallace Wynne, on April 4, 1961. Even in her illness, her greatest desire was to care for her beloved husband and make sure he was well-cared for.
Justina loved to cook and her specialty was carmel cake (from scratch) and sweet potato pies. Her Christian journey began at an early age and continued to the end. Although she was not able to attend church in a building, you would find her watching the television ministry of Jimmy Swaggart, singing along with his choir, and faithfully praying every day.
Her employment included: Swartz Restaurant, General Electric, Sears, Marvel Schebler (Borg Warner), CHELP, and Walgreen’s (Wood Street) where she was in charge of the cosmetics department. She left Walgreen’s to care for her husband full-time.
The angels arrived early Friday morning, August 19, 2016, to bring her home to be with the Lord and Savior that she continuously worshipped and adored. She was greeted in heaven by her mother, Vernida Martin Tyson, father, Rufus Perkins, step-father, Willie Samuel Tyson, Sr.; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Tyson Barnes, and Vernita Tyson Thomas, brothers, Otis Perkins, William Perkins, and Willie Sam Tyson, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories: her husband of 55 years, Wallace; children, Harrison (Angela Adler) Perkins, Gregory (Deborah) Wynne, Patricia (Scottie) Wynne Jelks, Vanessa Wynne, and Valerie (Craig) Wynne Williams; brother, Johnny (Jean) Tyson of Decatur, Illinois; her sisters Juanita Tyson of Riverside, California; Katherine Tyson and Bernette (Dr. Richard) Harley, both of Chicago, Illinois; Sarah (Bernard) Tyson Barnes, of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Hal (Evelyn) Wynne of Decatur, Illinois, and Al Thomas, of Santa Ana, California; sisters-in-law, Josephine Tyson of Cleveland, Ohio, and Doris Cunningham of Decatur Illinois; grandchildren, Makaylia, Ashara, Teona, Chandler, David, Heather, Quolette, Ariel, Charles, Aliyah, Amirah, Caleb, Keenah; seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Homegoing service to celebrate Justina’s life will be 11 AM Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. Robert White officiating.
