Katherine Blue's Obituary
Decatur-Katherine Blue, 83, of Decatur departed this life into a graceful eternity on Thursday, May 10, 2012 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Katherine was born May 4, 1929 in Cedar Bluff, MS to the Union of Henry and Lillie Bell Wooten Spates. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Louis T. Blue and together they had seven children: Mary, Ella, Louis T. Jr., Maxine, Lawrence, Dennis and Anthony. She loved the Lord and was in a singing group call the Bluenettes. They would go to other church singing for the Lord.
She leaves behind to cherish memories children, grandchildren, 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thank you goes to nephew Gary Spates, Ollie Shaw, Jenny Turner, and Arron Hodges and wife, Mary. The family would also like to thank St. Mary’s Hospital Doctors, Nurses, and staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Dennis and Louis Jr., brothers, R.T., Samaria, Bill, Allan, and Bob, and sisters, Lillie and Lovenia.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Hughes officiating. Visitation will be 10 ' 11:00 am Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony.
