Kathleen Elizabeth Babica's Obituary
Kathleen Elizabeth Babica, 75, of Decatur, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Kathleen was born July 16, 1932, in Decatur, the daughter of Valentine and Elizabeth Miller Babica. She was a registered nurse who worked for many Doctor’s in Decatur, but most of her career was spent working at St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement in 1998. Kathleen was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, and DMH Auxiliary. She graduated from St. Teresa High School in 1950 and then graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in 1953. In 1982 Kathleen received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the College of St. Francis in Joliet.
She is survived by her aunts: Mary Lang of Decatur, Rose Mercurio of Peoria and Nerine Guy of Litchfield; several cousins including Margaret Bob Parker-Brown of Springfield, and many-many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Friday, March 7, 2008 at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Very Rev. James O’Shea officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church or St. Teresa High School.
