Kathleen Mary Petersen's Obituary
Kathleen M. Petersen, 75, of DePue, IL, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Kathleen was born on February 4, 1951, in Spring Valley, IL, the daughter of Caleb Andrew Bryant and Gertrude Elizabeth (Staab) Bryant. She was married to Ronald V. Petersen (son of Verne and Dorothy Petersen) and they were married on February 17, 1973, in DePue, IL.
Kathleen worked as a manager for the D.M.H. Gift Shop and also helped out at the Northeast Community Fund Food Bank. She also loved to sew. Above all else, her passion was her grandchildren where her creativity overflowed.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandma. She lived life with such passion and purpose. She had a strong faith and shared that with everyone but lived it out in her love for everyone.
Kathleen is survived by her husband of over 53 years of marriage, Ron of Cerro Gordo, IL; daughters: Trudy Vest and husband Matt of Cerro Gordo, IL; and Amanda Miller of Cerro Gordo, IL; five grandchildren: Allena Thompson and her husband Hunter and Nicolas Vest, Braden and his wife Gretchen, Kelsie, and Caleb Weaver; one great-grandchild Brason Ron Caleb Weaver; three brothers Robert Bryant of Earlville, IL; Leonard Bryant and wife Sherry of Grand Junction, CO; Eric Bryant and wife Annabelle of DePue, IL; sister: Mabel Sonnenberg of Peru, IL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday (March 21, 2026) at Church of the Brethren in Cerro Gordo, IL, with visitation from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Macon County Animal Control and Care Center.
