Kathryn V. Sexton's Obituary
Kathryn Virginia Sexton Kate passed on to eternal life on Tuesday, August 5th, 2003 at 8:25 p.m. at McKinley Court Nursing Center, Decatur.
Funeral Mass Celebrating her life will be Saturday, August 9th, 10:00 a.m. in St. James Church, Decatur. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur. Memorials may be made to either St. James School or McKinley Court Nursing Home. Mrs. Sexton was born November 2, 1926 in Blue Mound, the daughter of Thomas E. and Verna G. Miller Austin. She married Kenneth Martin Sexton on May 21, 1949. He preceded her in death in February 21, 1980. She was a secretary for the Macon County Veteran's Office from 1979 until 1986. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Surviving are her son, Steven Sexton, San Francisco, CA; daughters Karen and husband Jackie Green Jr., Geilenkirchen, Germany, and Kathleen and husband Rod Schanefelt, Decatur; granddaughters Ashley and Jana Green and grandsons Jackie Green, Chapman and Parker Schanefelt; sisters, Nancy and husband Richard Chapman, Decatur; Mary and husband Roy Hufford, Cerro Gordo; brother Dean and wife Linda Austin, Canton; sister-in-laws;Edna Austin, Flemington, NJ; Doris Austin and Mary Austin, both of Boody. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and good friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Betty Hartwell and brothers Everett, Wayne and Jack Austin.
Kathryn was a wonderful, wife, mother and a friend to all who knew her. She has blessed many others with her compassion and loving spirit. She will be sadly missed and cherished in our memories. Her family wishes to thank the staff at McKinley Court for their care and support through the years.
