Kathy A. Baker's Obituary
DECATUR – Kathy Ann (Silliman) Baker 57, of Decatur, passed away June 30 in her home after a long battle with cancer.
Kathy was born March 27, 1959 in Kennewick, WA, the daughter of Kenneth and Arleen Silliman of Kennewick, WA. She graduated valedictorian Kennewick High School and then graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Kathy married Gary Baker in Kennewick on September 4, 1982. Kathy worked at the WNP-2 Nuclear Plant in the Hanford Reservation near Richland, WA until they moved to Decatur in January 1984 to work for Illinois Power at the Clinton Nuclear Power Station. Kathy has continued to work at the Power Station for more than 32 years holding various management positions; most recently as the Manager of Regulatory Assurance.
Kathy leaves behind her husband, two daughters, and one granddaughter; Stacy Stickney, Alyssa Baker, and Kathryn Stickney; all of Forsyth and Decatur as well as one step daughter and one step son; Lisa Baker of Grimes, IA and Shawn Baker of Clinton, IL along with six step grandchildren of Grimes and Clinton. Kathy was preceded by one step daughter, Diana Devick of Grimes, IA. Kathy also leaves behind her parents, two sisters and one brother; Sue Silliman, Vickie Bergum, and Keith Silliman all of Kennewick, WA.
Services to celebrate Kathy’s life will be 11 AM, Tuesday July, 5, 2016 in First Congregational United Church of Christ, 3465 N. MacArthur Road, Decatur, IL 62526. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday in Moran Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Congregational United Church of Christ.
