Kathy Lynn Matthews Woodland departed this life on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:02 pm in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Kathy was born March 20, 1959 in Decatur, the daughter of Mary Matthews and Authur Williams. Kathy gave her life to Christ at Bright Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur. While attending Bright Morning Star she served as an usher and worked in the kitchen. Kathy was also a CNA while living in Milwaukee, WI.
Kathy leaves to cherish her precious memories, her mother, Mary Matthews; sons; Myris, Tyris Joanne Matthews of Decatur, FiancÃ?¯Ã?¿Ã?½e, Vernon Douglas of Decatur; brothers: Charles Christine Matthews, Harvey Jr. Lisa Dozier both of Decatur, Lloyd Edward Dozier, Billy Laura Dean Matthews of Memphis, TN; John Joyce Dozier, Lowdois Barbara Dozier; sister, Alice Bernard Waddlington, Judy Matthews, all of Decatur, seven grandchildren, very special friend, Julie Shelby, and a host of nieces, nephews, relative, and friends.
Her father, Authur Williams, son, Jerome Woodland, Jr. Bookie, sisters, Darnise Maria Matthews, Sandra V. Dozier, all preceded her in death.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, doctors, ICU 4400 and 5100 along with the entire staff of Decatur Memorial Hospital and the Cancer Center.
Funeral service celebrating the life of Kathy Woodland will be 12 noon Friday, April 8, 2011 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor T. J. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
