Kenneth Lee Carter's Obituary
Kenneth L Carter, 93, of Clinton, went to his heavenly home on July 23rd, 2024. He received his perfect heavenly body. Kenneth had a very strong, unwavering faith and fought the good fight, always looking to God. He always sought out God’s wisdom with praying and reading the Bible when facing any and all situations in his life. Through all of the sickness, he always maintained a positive attitude. He always said it is a win-win situation, “If I live, I win. If I die, I win. I’m heaven bound, with no tears, no sorrows and no pain.”
The family entrusted Moran and Goebel Funeral Home, Decatur, IL with cremation rites. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Church of Christ in Clinton, IL on Saturday, September 14th at 11 AM. There will be military rites and a lunch will be provided afterward.
Kenneth was born in Waynesville, IL on October 28th, 1930. He was the son of Willie and Lucinda (Coppenbarger) Carter. He is survived by his wife Linda (Phillis/Mayo) Carter, 2 daughters, Janetta (Stan) Bauer, Glenda (Mark) Kaufman, and 1 stepson, Michael Mayo, 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Kenneth is also survived by his brother, Leo (Marguerite) Carter.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wife Berneice (Shipp) Carter, sisters Esther and Doris, brother Burnell and his wife Lita Carter, sister-in-law Mary Jane, son-in-law Stan Bauer, and stepson Robert Mayo.
Kenneth was a veteran in the Navy. In his young adult life, he was in farming and livestock with his father. He had a business in construction (KL Carter Home Repair) and was a landlord over several rental properties. He was on the County Board, Texas Township Board and Tax Review Board for many years. Kenneth was also a deacon and taught Sunday school classes at several Baptist churches and also taught Sunday school classes at the Church of Christ.
He will be greatly missed and always remembered for his beautiful smile, heartfelt prayers, caring and loving Christ-like gentle attitude toward everyone.
Memorials may be given to the Church of Christ, Clinton, IL or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
