Kenneth Maurice Porter's Obituary
Shelbyville – Kenneth Maurice Porter, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Kenneth was born on June 12, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to Bessie Elvira Porter, nee Thornton, and John O. Porter. After living in New York City, Kenneth moved to Chicago where he worked as a meatcutter at Fulton Market for many years. He never met a stranger and enjoyed entertaining everyone with stories of his adventures traveling across the country as a young man. He loved animals, reading and was as avid historian.
Although Kenneth never married or had children of his own, his friends were his family. We know that he is up in heaven sharing a beer with those that have gone before.
He is survived by his adopted son Christopher Sandoval and his wife Pamela Johnson along with many friends.
Private family services will be held.
Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at https://moranandgoebel.com.
