Laela Tezzill Deviner's Obituary
Decatur – On July 5, 2026, the world lost a beautiful soul when Laela Tezzill Deviner passed away quietly into peace.
Laela was born in Decatur, IL, on October 10, 2008, to Leland Deviner and Tierra Transou. She was an active student and a dedicated cheerleader for the Eisenhower Panthers where she completed her sophomore year. She was a cheerleader at Eisenhower; and a majorette dancer for DD4L and Dynamic Threat. She was a tumbler, flyer and dancer, loved to hang out with friends, make Tik Tok’s, and spend quality time with her faithful companion Paxton.
Laela was preceded in death by her grandfathers James Cooper and Floyd Wheeler, Jr., great grandparents Rebecca and Albert Lee Transou; Lydia and Willie Harris; aunt Shirley O’Neal, and cousin Ta’Myus Jarrett.
Laela’s memory lives on in the hearts of her devoted mother Tierra Transou, step father Daniel Avery; father Leland Deviner; siblings: Tristeona Green, Demani Slater, Armani Reed, Le’Niiya Deviner, De’Asia Avery, Tyreona Avery, Sa’Nyiiah West, and Harmony Outlaw; grandparents: Brenda Transou (Ivery), Michael Harris, and Theresa Deviner; special cousins: Dae’Maria Brown, Sa’Ria Crawford; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 10am until the service time of 12pm, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Community Temple Church of God in Christ, burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
