Larry Donell Cole Pattin's Obituary
Larry Donell Cole Pattin, 65, was born November 5, 1958, in Cairo, Illinois, to parents Chester Cole and Dorothy Mae Pattin, both now deceased. He was called home to be with the Lord on October 20, 2024, at his home.
Larry worked as a chef/cook at the Bungalow Restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for 30+ years. He moved to Decatur, Illinois, in 2004, where he reunited with his children and family. He worked at the Hole in the Wall as a cook for his nephew. Larry loved cooking and watching football, especially his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers. He loved telling jokes and talking about people, calling them every name but their own. He talked stuff to everyone around him. He loved his children and grandchildren, and he was loved by many.
Larry leaves to cherish heartfelt memories: the love of his life, as he always said, Laura Gause; his children: Shawanda (Deon Barbee) Gause, Donell (Amanda Wilcott) Gause, Toyisha Gause, Tenyeka (Calvin Whitfield) Gause, daughter and son in love Michelle Hamilton and Tyrone Hamilton; sisters: Lavern Tucker, Ida Davis, and Samantha Chaney; brother James Johnson; grandchildren Shawnquavies, Cincere, Lamentae, De’Aysha, Donell Jr., Cameron, Kaylynn, Leleah, Dontae, Alayah, Alaysia, Aniya, Ahmad, Ahmiya, Sta’Rhiya, Mi’Asjii, James Jr, Sky’Leii, William, Selena, Brandon, Tymir, Neveah, K’yng, Zamaria, Tyrone Jr, Zamarion, Canaria, DeArrion, Avanee, and Amiyah; 10 great-grandkids; special nephews: Jerome and Greg Tucker; and special friend and Bungalow buddy Jack (June) Gause.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Pattin, and brothers Edward Johnson, Michael Pattin, and Vernell Pattin.
We would like to thank his neighbor Liz and his caregiver Tisha Cooper, and a special thanks to his daughter-in-law Amanda Wilcott for always being there for him. He loved you as well.
Homegoing Service for Larry will be at 12pm Saturday, November 2, at New Salem Baptist Church in Decatur. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
