Lauren Earl Harman's Obituary
Lauren Earl Harman 57 of Decatur died Sunday September 28, 2008 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10 AM Saturday October 4, 2008 in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Weltin as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Friday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4:30 PM. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek Township.
Lauren was born on October 15, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of Alvin Lauren and Mary Holmes Harman. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a choir member. He worked 34 years and 11 months for Sherwin-Williams. He was a member of Lincoln Coin Club and the Decatur Coin Club. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball playing third base earning nickname Pudge. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow in Boy Scouts.
Lauren loved God, his family and his country. He enjoyed travel, especially to Civil War Battlefields. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, singing, and listening to music. He married Penny Kasner on September 6, 1969 in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Surviving are his wife, Penny, children, Matthew Harman of Mt. Zion; Karen Harman of Springfield; Scott Harman of Urbana; grandchildren, Amanda Harman and Joseph Harman both of Mt. Zion; mother, Mary Harman of Cedar Rapids, IA, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Kasner of Cedar Rapids, IA; siblings, Virginia Mc Cotter of Algonquin; Alvin Mark Harman, Bonnie K. May Dwayne, Spear Harman Leanne, Mary Jo Harman, Bridget Ferry John, and Willard Harman Sue all of Cedar Rapids, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father, father-in-law, and daughter-in-law, Wendy Howlett-Harman.
The family of Lauren Earl Harman is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street Decatur.
