LaVerne M. Gauchel's Obituary
LaVerne M. Gauchel, 84 of Decatur, formerly of Racine Wisconsin, died on Sunday September 15, 2002 in Decatur.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10 A.M. Saturday September 21, 2002 in St. Edward Catholic Church in Racine Wisc., visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Racine Wisc. Local arrangements are by J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements in Wisconsin. Memorials may be made to: American Cancer Society, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, or DMH Hospice.
Ms. Gauchel was born in Racine, Wisc. on July 05, 1918 a daughter of William L. and Olive S. Eppers Carpenter. She was a housewife who along with her daughter operated a daycare in their home for nearly 10 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, past member of St. Lucy Catholic Church in Racine Wisc., she loved to garden and bake bread. She married Vincent H. Gauchel on April 30, 1941 in Racine, Wisc. and he preceded her in death on February 07, 1986.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary J. and Terry L. Harter of Decatur; sons: James V. and Catherine Gauchel of Pella, Iowa; Joseph W. Gauchel of Alexandria, VA.; brother, Richard M. and Josephine Carpenter of Scottsdale, AZ.; sisters: June M. Niesen of Racine, Wisc.; Ione M. and John Kis of Racine, Wisc.; sister-in-law, Virginia Carpenter of Racine, Wisc.; 9 grandchildren, 4 great granddaughters, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers.
The family would like to thank DMH Hospice, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Staff including their eucharistic ministers, Dr. Dold and Dr. Scribner.
