Laverne R. Johnson's Obituary
Laverne R. Johnson, 78, of Decatur, died on Sat, Nov. 4, 2006 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Homegoing services will be 12 pm Fri. Nov. 10, 2006, at Community Temple Church of God In Christ, 759 S. Jackson, Decatur. Visitation will be from 11 am until the service time. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Laverne was born on June 10, 1928 in Brownsville, TN. the daughter of Annie Morgan and Robert Reed. Laverne worked as a C.N.A. and a beautician. Laverne was a faithful member of First Church of God In Christ. Laverne married Hubert Johnson in 1959; one son was born to that union.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, sons Edgar Carin Stoner Reed of Decatur, Kent Linda Phillips Johnson of McKinney, TX, Hubert Tonia Johnson, Jr. of Richardson, TX; grandchildren: Starr Johnson of Hammond, LA, Yavonne Mark Maclin of Phoenix, AZ, Angela Billy Crutchfield of Bloomington, Nicholas Reed of Aurora, CO, Tyrell Billingsley and Talia Billingsley both of McKinney, TX, Shakira Johnson and Bryce Rajni Johnson of Richardson, TX; step-grandchild, Andre Fonville of Decatur; greatgrandchildren, Bradley Crutchfield of Phoenix, AZ, Laila Billingsley of McKinney, TX, Nicholette Reed of Houston, TX, Jaylen Landrum of McKinney, TX; sister-in-law, Loudella Reed and her son Eldred Lewis Reed of Chicago, sisters-in-law: Katie Smith and Ella Boyd all of Decatur; sister-in-law, Christine Reed; niece’s, Rita Reed and Kezia Reed and nephew, Medgar Reed all of Baltimore, MD.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son, Wilson Smith Jr., brothers: Rev. Edgar L.Reed and Robert Lewis Reed; one grandchild, Zoe Maclin.
The Family would like to thank special friends: Mrs. Pat Newbon, Elder Andrei Newbon and the Aspen Ridge Staff. Laverne will be greatly missed by all.
