Lawrence Durbin's Obituary
Lawrence Durbin 77 of Long Creek Twp. died Friday June 25, 2004 in his home.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday June 28, 2004 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to: Emanuel Southern Baptist Church. Mr. Durbin was born on October 6, 1926 in Decatur the son of Joseph and Mary Huddleston Durbin. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and a member and Trustee of Emanuel Southern Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Executive Board of Central Baptist Association. He worked at A.E. Staley for Nineteen Years and retired from General Motors in 1989 after twenty years of service. He married Florence Thomas on August 4, 1949 in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife, five children, Leon Durbin Glenda, Carol Ann Chester Larry, Joseph Durbin, Cheryl Smith Bryan, and Loretta Meske Wade, Twenty-four grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
His parents, one brother Donald, and one son James Durbin preceded him in death.
