Lawrence L. "Hoppy" Beasley, 80, of Decatur, died on Wed, Nov. 1, 2006 in the Indianapolis VA Medical Center.
Homegoing services will be 10 am Wed. Nov. 8, 2006, in Christ Tabernacle Church; visitation will be from 8:30 until the service time. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military rites.
Hoppy was born on Nov. 14, 1925 in Marianna, AR the son of Ford and Mary Elizabeth Royster Beasley. A U.S. Navy Veteran, Hoppy retired as a welder for C.B. & Q. which later became Wagners. He was a member of Christ Tabernacle Church. Hoppy married Mattie M. DeBerry on April 19, 1982.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Mattie of Decatur; children: LonDale Matilda Beasley, Kennath Shirley Beasley, Calvin Roni Beasley all of Decatur; Jereland Beasley of Champaign; Shirley Lynell Williams of Decatur; Linda Joseph Tracy of O'Fallon; Brenda Wayne Taylor, Doreen Raymond Phillips, Ronald Beasley and Rhonda Danny Williams all of Decatur. Siblings: Lee Vivian Spencer Brown of Marianna, AR; Ford Cora Beasley, Jr. of Gary, IN; John Willie Mae Beasley of Decatur; Lawson Ruth Beasley of Gary, IN; Betty Laverne Brown of Dallas, TX; step-children: Zeke Anderson and Lorenzo Anderson all of Memphis, TN; David Evelyn Anderson and Josie Anderson all of Decatur; Gary Anderson of Stone Mt. GA; Scott Lisa Anderson of Decatur; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Hoppy was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Lawrence L. Beasley, Jr and 2 sisters, Betsy and Mattie.
