Leah J. Deister, 72, of Decatur, died on Tues, Sept. 7, 2004 in her home.
Funeral Mass celebrating her life will be 11 a.m. Sat. Sept. 11, 2004 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials to: St. Thomas Church, DMH Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Leah was born on May 21, 1932 in Decatur, the daughter of Burl and Flossie Fulks Dial. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and worked as a receptionist for the Rolling Prairie Library before retiring in 1992. Leah married Thomas H. Deister on March 31, 1951 in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband Tom of Decatur; daughter, Madonna K. husband, Matthew Hoerr of Decatur; sons: Barry L. Deister of Portland OR; Jeffrey C. wife, Kelli Deister of Decatur; Thomas Andrew wife, Karen Deister of Charlotte, NC; brothers: Jack Dial and Gary Dial both of California; grandchildren: Lori Deister-Warneke, Jeremy Deister, Ian Hoerr, Melissa Deister, Madalyn Hoerr and Blake Deister; great grandchildren: Marissa Vasquez, Christian Deister, Cameron Deister, Lexi Nelson and BriAwna Joseph; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, one son, 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death.
