Leah Marie Goranson's Obituary
Leah Marie Goranson, 94, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth.
Leah was born July 10, 1924, in Dixon, IL, to George Carl and Grace F. (Myers) Stienmetz. She married Roland William Goranson on July 10, 1957. He passed away July 6, 2006. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Forysth.
She is survived by her daughter, Verna (James) Shuppara of Decatur; four grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Thorsen, Meredith (Kevin) Zimmerman, Allison (Wesley) Ooton and Emily (Ben) Massey; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Taylor, Abby, Lauren, Cole and Sloan; her brother, Gerald (Judy) Stienmetz of Oregon, IL and her sister, Shirley Francois of Polo, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Leah Goranson will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2019, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday before the services at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 155 W Forsyth Rd, Forsyth, IL 62535.
