Lee Albert Goodman's Obituary
Lee Albert “Shorty” “Bebo” Goodman, 72, of Decatur, passed from this life Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Illinois.
Lee was born on May 9, 1950 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the son of John Samuel and Eva Mae (Bond) Goodman. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Trinity CME Church under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Green and current Pastor James Hendricks Sr. Lee formally worked on the railroad and he worked at Decatur Foundry. Lee was an automobile detail specialist, which he enjoyed both as a job and as a hobby. Lee married Sherlene Taylor in 1980 in Decatur, Illinois. He loved his family, especially when he could make them laugh. Lee enjoyed dancing, talking with friends, and eating good Southern food. Lee liked to spend time fixing cars and watching Westerns.
Left not to mourn, but to cherish fond memories are his sons: James Earl Taylor, Arbert Evay Goodman and Lemark Rashawn Goodman, all of Decatur; grandchildren: Jasma Sherrea Taylor and Jimeka Louise Owens; great-grandchildren: Jaylen Mykhel Strayhorn, Jaleah My’Lei Strayhorn, Jordyn Leiann McClain, Jakaila Michelle Taylor, Jaionna Monae Taylor, and Jayceon Lewis Wilder; brothers: Milliard (Vivian) Goodman and John (Eyone) Goodman Jr., both of Decatur; sisters Maryam Paez of Decatur, Linnie (Jimmie) Otis of Forsyth, Minnie (Rossie) Rainer of Smyrna, Tennessee, Shelline Goodman of Decatur, and Magnolia Goodman of Decatur; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his wife Sherlene Goodman; parents John and Eva Mae Goodman; paternal grandparents Johnny and Mary Goodman; maternal grandparents Jackson and Savannah Tyus-Bond; brothers James Jones, Joe Goodman, and Tommie Goodman; and niece Tanisha Hicks.
Homegoing services to celebrate Lee’s life will be 11am Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
