Lena Mae Brown's Obituary
Lena Mae Brown, 92, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Lena was born August 19, 1922 in Fairmont, IL to Daniel de la and Stella (Perchman) Cruz. She married Charles E. Brown on September 23, 1946. He passed on December 2, 1994.
Mrs. Brown worked at the Decatur Signal Depot until it closed. She later worked in the Macon County Clerk Tax Extension office for several years until her retirement. One of her favorite hobbies was to go shopping.
She is survived by her son, Nathaniel (Linda) Brown of Decatur; four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Margie Douglas of Springfield and Betty Cruz of Decatur; special niece and nephew, Delores (Bennie) Hack of Decatur and many more nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Theodore Cruz, Sr. and Tema Cruz; and two sisters, Freda Cruz and Victoria Simpson.
Services to celebrate the life of Lena Brown will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Jasper Street Church of Christ 950 North Jasper Street, Decatur. Visitation will be from 9 to 11a.m. Saturday before the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur. Memorials may be directed to Jasper Street Church of Christ.
