Lena M. McCauley's Obituary
Lena M. McCauley, 83, of Decatur passed into eternal life at 3:30 pm Thursday March 23, 2006 in her home with her loving daughter at her side.
A Tribute and Honor service celebrating her life will be 11:00 am Wednesday March 29, 2006 in Trinity C.M.E. Church with Rev. Patricia Havis officiating, where visitation will be one hour before service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home was entrusted to handle these arrangements.
Lena was born in Decatur, on November 09, 1922 the daughter of Lawrence Stovall and Minnie Tyus, she married M.S. McCauley in St. Louis, MO in December 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1971. Lena was a member of Trinity C.M.E. Church for many years. She served on the DMCOC Board for many years, she was very active in the Church Ministry, and she was an active member of the Church Women United, the African American Geological Society and was active with the Multi-culture program thru God's Shelter of Love. She worked as a beautician for over 20 years; she also was instrumental in forming the Sickle Cell Foundation in California and she retired from Kaizer Permanete working as a medical clerk.
Lean leaves behind not to mourn but to cherish fond memories, her loving daughter, Emily Rhymes of Decatur; granddaughter; Danielle King and great grandson; Dominic Waller both of Springfield; niece; Mercedus Crawford of St. Louis, MO and nephew; Charles McCauley of New York and a host of other family, friends and church family.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Beverly Hickman.
The family of Ms. McCauley would like to give out a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mohammad Hasnain, Roberta and staff and DMH Hospice for all the loving care given to her during her illness.
