Lenford Oneal's Obituary
Decatur-Lenford O'Neal, 77, of Decatur, peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus Christ, from this life into eternity on January 13, 2013.
Lenford was born January 10, 1936 in Cropwell, Alabama, one of seven children born to Earlie and Annie L. (Threatt) O'Neal. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
In August of 1954, Lenford married Emma Jean Jordan, they moved to Decatur in 1955. To this union seven children were born. After coming to Decatur, he united with the Trinity CME Church. He served on the Steward Board and as well as the Lay Ministry. Lenford retired from Caterpillar after thirty-seven years, he served on the Decatur Macon County Board, and he worked at Red Tail Run Golf Course.
Lenford leaves behind to cherish fond memories his mother Annie O'Neal of Cropwell, Alabama, sons Hubert Wilbur (Pinkie) O'Neal, Lindsey (Loretta) O'Neal, and Larry (Christine) O'Neal all of Decatur, and Tandy O'Neal of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, daughters Evangelist Patricia (Kenneth) Farmer, Margaret Taylor, Sharon and Shannon Harris all of Decatur, brother Jessie (Mollie) James of Cropwell, Alabama, sisters Mary Jo Copeland, Marcelene Ragland, and Irene Butler all of Decatur, Thelma (Ladale) Jones, and Ernestine O'Neal all of Cropwell, Alabama, aunt Tinnie Green of Cropwell, Alabama, special friend of the family William Oliver, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, son Alfred, and father Earlie O'Neal.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Trinity CME Church, 444 S. Webster St., with Rev. Samuel Hutson III officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
