Leo George Frey's Obituary
Leo George Frey 80 of Decatur died Monday August 23, 2004 in his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am Thursday August 26, 2004 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday August 25, 2004 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, where prayers will be recited at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church. Leo was born in Piopolis on February 3, 1924 the son of William and Louisa Herzing Frey. He was a Charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Leo was employed with Tate and Lyle Staley’s for almost 40 years before retiring in 1986, working in the engine room. He proudly served his country serving in the Army Air Corp During World War II. While in the Army Air Corp, he received the European -African – Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one Silver Battle Star and two Bronze Battle Stars; three overseas service bars, Good Conduct Medal. He was a lifetime Member of the American Legion Castle Williams Post 105 of Decatur. He married Rosanna Karcher in Piopolis on May 10, 1952.
Leo leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Rosanna; his six sons, Richard Frey and wife Kari of Saint Louis, Robert Frey and wife Susan of Decatur, Roger Frey and wife Cheryl of Bloomington, Randy Frey and wife Suzi of Dahlgreen, Raymond and wife Patty of Decatur, Ronald Frey and wife Susan of Decatur and one daughter Rhonda Kay Jordan and husband Wayne of Moweaqua.. Three brothers Eugene Frey and wife Monica of St. Louis, Leland Frey and wife Nancy of McLeansboro, and William Frey and wife Helen of La Grange. Three sisters, Maria Karcher of Washington, Alice Puskarish of South Heights, PA. and Wilma Karcher and husband Edwin of Mt. Vernon. Nineteen grandchildren.
Leo was preceded in death by both of his parents, 1 grand daughter Kelsey.
