Leona F. Jones' Obituary
Leona F. Jones, 85, of Decatur, died Monday, February 6, 2012 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Leona was born April 8, 1926 in Hillsboro, KY, the daughter of George and Amanda McRoberts Cockrell. A member of Salem Baptist Church, Leona graduated from Cerro Gordo High School and worked as an inspector for Taylor Pharmaceuticals before retiring. She married James W. “Duke” Jones and he preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1996.
Surviving are her sons: Roger Jones of Decatur, Monte Linda Jones of TN, and Lonie Donna of Belleville; daughters: Melody Steve Cook, Kimberly Bryan Harris, Robin Jones-Webb all of Decatur, and Paula Randy Hamson of Elwin; 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; sister: Mary Dareld Burke of Decatur; brother, Don Ann Cockrell of CA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Joan; and baby, Jayson Weaver.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 10 until the service time at 11 am in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. Memorials: Salem Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Fair Havens Christian Home for the wonderful care they provided to Leona. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
