Leona Ruth Monroe's Obituary
Leona Ruth Monroe, 93, of St. Charles, MO, formerly of Decatur, IL died at 9:43 P.M. on January 4, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Foley, MO.
Family and friends will gather for a life celebration and luncheon at the Clinton American Legion, 219 N. Elizabeth St., Clinton, IL on February 4, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Private interment services will be held at a later date. Cremation services were arranged through Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Leona was born in White Heath, IL on July 20, 1923
For many years, Leona was a loving and devoted homemaker. During World War II, she worked at the Caterpillar Military Engine Plant. She was also employed at Pepsin Syrup Company in Monticello, IL, Eureka Williams in Bloomington, IL, and as a beautician in Normal IL.
Leona is survived by her daughter Sandra Baker (William) of Foley, MO, six grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Leona married Samuel D. Mott in November 1940. She married Floyd R Lane in August 1952. He died in February 1964. She married William H. Monroe in June, 1965. He passed away in August 2009. A daughter, Patricia, also preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to their local animal shelter, the SPCA, or Heartland Hospice.
