Leonard Evans' Obituary
Leonard Evans, 84, of Decatur formerly of East St. Louis, IL died Monday February 1, 2010 in his daughter’s home.
Leonard was born on June 29, 1925 in St. Louis, MO the son of Joe and Isabelle Reese Evans. He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran. He was retired from Biederman’s Furniture Store. He then went work as a security guard at First Illinois Bank. He was a member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed going fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his children, Alberta Bond Harry of Decatur; Leana Partee of Decatur; Leonard Evans Jr. of Starkville, MS; Patricia Jackson Peter Hester of East St. Louis; grandchildren, Niki Evans, Antwan Evans, DeAnda Barbee Kathy, Andrea Evans, Crystal Evans, Andrea M. Evans, Dewayne Evans Gwen, and Kenneth Evans Nichelle, a host of great-grandchildren, and two great-great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lena B. Fuller Evans, one brother, four sisters, and one grandson, Christopher Evans.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday February 9, 2010 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Br. Mayo Towels officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the funeral home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
