Leroy Sayles' Obituary
Leroy Sayles, 68, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Decatur, IL.
He was born on January 14, 1958, at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur, a son of the late Sam Sayles Jr and Odessa Ambrose Sayles. In his youth, he was a wrestler for Eisenhower High School. He married Deana Woods on January 20, 1976, spending the next 50 years at her side. While he was a lifelong resident of Decatur, Leroy got plenty of traveling in as an over-the-road trucker for over 25 years. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard, riding his bike, and loving on his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by: one brother, Frank Mayes; one sister, Bernice McGee; one son, Andre Sayles; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Winters.
Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Deana Woods Sayles; children, Stacy Woods Sayles, Kenyata Sayles, Kenya Sayles, and LaTanya Sayles Easterwood; sister, Lois Winters; seventeen grandkids; and nine great-grandkids.
A homegoing celebration for Leroy will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. The chapel will open for seating at 11:00 AM.
