Lewis F. "Lou" Madia's Obituary
Lewis F. "Lou" Madia, 83, of Decatur, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday August 19, 2003 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Funeral Liturgy will be 10 A.M. Saturday August 23, 2003 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St., with Fr. Dennis Kollross officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday in the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Pieta Mausoleum, Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Lou was born in Decatur on August 23, 1919 the son of Samuel F. and Helen R. Scalise Madia. He worked as a machinist on the Wabash Railroad and then as a Police Officer for the city of Decatur from 1949 to 1979. Lou was an Army veteran of WWII, member of the Illinois Police Association, and Police Benevolent Association Unit 39. He married Marie Catherine Lorenz on August 22, 1953 in Decatur and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1997
Surviving are: sisters: Eleanor Piraino and LaVerne Greene both of Decatur; brother, Eugene A. Madia of Las Vegas, NV.; several nieces, and nephews.
His parents; wife; sister, Catherine Sommer; and brothers: Joseph R. and Samuel F. Madia preceded him in death.
