Lewis F. Mathias' Obituary
Lewis F. “Bud” Mathias, 82, of Harristown, died Saturday, December 12, 2009 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.
Bud was born December 11, 1927, in Brownstown, the son of James and Cleata Bolt Mathias. He was a member of Community of Christ Church and worked as a refinisher for Quigles Furniture Store for 40 years. Bud married Margaret “Peggy” Embrey in Decatur on December 11, 1948.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Peggy of Harristown; son, Larry Mathias of Harristown and daughter, Brenda Jordan of Jacksonville, FL; brothers: Norman Donna Mathias and James Donna Mathias of Decatur; sisters: Virginia Roy Stacey of Illiopolis and Wanda Kaye Larry Patient of Sullivan; six grandchildren and three great grandsons; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, one brother, and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Thursday, December 17, 2009 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service: 10:30 am Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Harristown Cemetery. Memorials: Shriners Hospitals for Children.
