Lillie Gean (Sangster) Banks' Obituary
Lillie Gean (Sangster) Banks was called to eternal rest on August 21,2024 at the age of 69. She was born on January 14,1955 to Robert L. Sangster and Mary Louise Green in Brownsville, TN.
Lillie Gean accepted Christ in her life at an early age and her faith never wavered. She grew up attending Greater Northside Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Marshall Hughes. She was joined in Holy Matrimony with the late Rev. Ozell Banks on May 5, 2004. She continued her Christian journey by his side at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. After his passing she re-joined her church family at Greater Northside Missionary Church.
Lillie Gean worked various jobs throughout her life. She is most remembered for her position at Maverick Steakhouse. She never met a stranger and if she did, when you finished your conversation with her you felt as if you’ve known her for a lifetime.
Lillie Gean loved her family. She loved spending time with her mom, sisters and brothers sitting around the roundtable on Sunday afternoons. Her huge spirit and personality will be greatly missed,
As we reflect on Lillie Gean’s life, we are reminded of the profound impact she had on those around her. She leaves behind boundless love, laughter, and memories to her mother Mary L. Sangster of Decatur IL, Siblings: (sister) Rosie (George) Turner of Decatur, IL, (brother) Charles Sangster of Dallas, TX, (brother) Robert (Shelia), Sangster of Decatur, IL, (sister) Victoria Sangster Decatur, IL, (sister) Vera Evans of Decatur, IL, (sister) Shonda Allen of Decatur, IL (sister-in-law) Tonya (McCaskill) Sangster. Bonus Children Philip Banks, The Warnsley family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lillie Gean was preceded in death by her Maternal and Paternal Grandparents. (father) Robert L. Sangster, Rev. Ozell Banks (husband), Troy Turner, Shon T. Allen Jr (nephews) Seneca R. Sangster, Nicole M. Sangster (nieces) and Stacey Sangster (brother)
Lillie’s Spirit touched many lives, and her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. May her soul rest in eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.

Visitation will be from 10am to 12pm Friday, August 30, at Northside Missionary Baptist Church. Homegoing Service will begin at 12pm. Burial in Macon County Memorial Park will follow the service. A repast at the church will follow the burial. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
