Lillie Mae Holloway's Obituary
Lillie Mae Holloway, 90, of Decatur, departed this life at 1:18 pm Friday, September 16, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Holloway was born October 11, 1920 in Brownsville, TN, the daughter of Chester and Lucy Turner Brooks. A member of Calvary Temple Church Of God In Christ, she worked at the Ambassador Hotel for several years and was a homemaker. Ms. Holloway married William Holloway in April of 1944 and he preceded her in death in 2004. Also preceding her in death were one brother and three sisters.
Left to cherish fond memories is her sons: Willie Holloway, Aaron Holloway and William Ora Holloway, Jr. of Decatur, step-son, James L. Holloway of Campbell, OH; three grandchildren, one step-granddaughter and nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Geneva Davis of Brownsville, TN, and Callie Brooks of Decatur; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services celebrating her life will be 11 am, Saturday, September 24, 2011 in St. Peter’s A.M.E. Church; visitation will be one hour prior to the service with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery concluding with the “Flight Home” ceremony.
The family wishes to give special thanks to her granddaughter and caregiver, Tonyon DeBerry, Dr. Franklin, Rose Knapp and Addus Healthcare.
