Lilly A. Eckert's Obituary
DECATUR – Lilly A. Eckert, 82 of Decatur, passed away on October 4, 2019.
Vigil prayer service will be 5 PM on Monday, October 7th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with visitation to follow until 8 PM. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Tuesday, October 8th at 10 AM with Father John J. Eckert, main celebrant. A luncheon will be held at the church after the mass with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Illiopolis.
Lilly was born October 19, 1936 in New Holstein, WI, to Raymond and Rose (Pirkov) Hess. She married John W. Eckert in 1957. He preceeded her in death on September 11, 2018.
Survivors include her children: John R. (Cheryl) Eckert, Kathryn (Steven) Hamilton, Kim (John) Karl, Karen (Timothy) Devereux; and James (Laurie) Eckert. Siblings: Thomas Hess, Annie Anderson and Jerome Hess; and Brother-in-Law, William Eckert. She had 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Hess, Richard Hess, James Hess, Frank Hess, John Hess; sister Mary (Hess) Edwards; Brother-in-law Claude Bscherer and Sisters-in-law Joyce (Eckert) Bscherer and Patricia (Coenen) Eckert.
Lilly was an active member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and was also known for her portrayal of Mrs. Millikin at the Millikin Homestead, which she loved dearly. She also was an active member in multiple activities: Investment clubs, bowling league, golf league, and volunteering at church either as a member of the choir or part of the faithful cleaners, as well as the Good Samaritan Inn. She also held many officer positions for the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW), including President.
She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her.
