Linda K. Richardson's Obituary
Linda Kay (Walker) Richardson of Oreana, IL, was suddenly called home to the Lord on Thursday May 9, 2024 while at home.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday May 21 at Southside Country Club in Decatur from 4pm to 7pm.
Linda was born in Decatur Illinois on June 24, 1962 to Julie and Melvin Walker.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 29 years Randy, her father Melvin, her stepchildren Brad Richardson (Mandy) and Laura Kosinski (Mark), her grandchildren, Zach, Andy, Maia and Allison, her sister Anni-Leigh (Joe) Martinez, her brother Mike Walker, her brother Mark Walker (Marie), and nieces Delaney, Lela, Natalie, Rachel, Sydney and her nephew Daniel.
Linda graduated from Decatur Eisenhower High School in 1980 where she lettered in bowling and marching band. She graduated with a BS in Accounting from Illinois State University in 1984, became a CPA and made her career in banking working at the OCC and then at BankChampaign for 28 years, serving as CEO and Chairman of the Board since 2019.
Linda lived a life full of friends, laughter and love. To know her was to know celebrations. She sought and coordinated opportunities to gather her loved ones for the most amazing parties and vacations. Not only was she responsible for planning the details, she always found time – even late into the night – to offer her undivided attention to anyone who needed it. She was a wonderful sounding board and a devoted confidante.
Linda loved the ocean, being on the beach, playing with her grandchildren and playing euchre. She was funny, witty, smart, organized, loyal and honest and was a rock for many of us. She will leave behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday May 21 at Southside Country Club in Decatur from 4pm to 7pm.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother Julie, her sister-in-law Karla and her niece Nicole. Memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s honor to the United Way of Champaign and the CU Canteen Run.
