Lloyd Tuffy Evans' Obituary
Lloyd W. "Tuffy" Evans 87 of Decatur died Thursday July 7, 2005 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday July 11, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Rick Weltin as Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church. Entombment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum. Moran and Goebel Funeral Home is in-charge of arrangements. "Tuffy" was born on February 13, 1918 in Toledo, IL the son of Frank and Bernice Beaumont Evans. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 577 and a member of the Rev. Jeremiah J. Murphy Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus of Decatur. He was a member of the Elks Club, Eagles, and Golden K. He married Cordelia "Toots" Aitken March 31, 1940 in St. Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1978. He later married Dorothy Mauzey on February 10, 1979 in Decatur she survives. He was employed at Burkes Decatur Pump Company for 41 Years retiring in 1980. He was known as the "Voice of Burkes" to all associated with the company. Lloyd was a past president of the Decatur Transportation Club. He had been an avid hunter, bowler, poker player, golfer and a life long Cubs fan.
Tuffy a wonderful friend of Decatur and Macon County he will be greatly missed yet remembered by his loving family and so many dear friends. He was a true friend to many and a great personality of Decatur. He always had a good word to say to everyone and never forgot a name or face.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, son, Gary L. Evans of Fuquay-Varina, NC; daughters, Carole A Tolliver and Sharon J. Rohman both of Decatur; Step-sons, Jim J. Mauzey Carol of Raleigh, NC; John H. Mauzey Becky of Decatur; Tim C. Mauzey Donna of Maroa; step-daughter, Rhonda L. Zimmerman Peter of Idaho Falls, ID; grandchildren, Tammy Reiff Pat, Jamie Suzewits Steve, Susie Jacobus Aaron, David Rohman Glennette, Sara Miller David, Kelly Evans, Michael E. Mauzey, Amy M. Mauzey, J. Cody Mauzey, Kyle M. Mauzey, Joshua ZimmermanMorgan, Jaclyn Zimmerman, and Jennifer Zimmerman; and Thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and one brother Barney Evans.
