Lois Lynette Brandis' Obituary
Lois Lynette Brandis, 78, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away December 12, 2025.
Lois was born in Decatur on August 29, 1947, the daughter of Melvin and Elma (Pinkley) Sloan. She married Joseph “Joe” Brandis on October 16, 1967. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Lois and Joe were owners and operators of Esker’s Tavern, where Lois’s cooking talents were put to good use. When she had some free time, she enjoyed watching the Game Show Network, playing Yahtzee, and following her beloved Cubs. She was a longtime member of Ss. James and Patrick Parish.
Lois is survived by her stepson James Brandis; siblings Kathy (Frank Thomas) Tull of Thomasboro, IL, Larry (Cheryl) Sloan of Rantoul, IL, Rodger (Debbie) Sloan of Leesburg, FL, Bill (Kathy) Sloan of Urbana, IL, and Holly Tarter of Kansas, IL; special cousin James Anderson of Decatur; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Arthur Earl Sloan, sister Marsha Riggleman, and aunt Bette Anderson.
Services for Lois will be held on Thursday, December 18, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10am and will be followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee, IL, will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
