Lorraine Shepherd Houmiel 64, of Forsyth passed away at 7:32 am Tuesday April 05, 2005, surrounded by her loving family in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, Illinois.
Services celebrating her life will be 6 pm Friday April 08, 2005 at First Lutheran Church in Decatur, where visitation will be from 4-6 on Friday evening April 08, 2005. Burial will be in Redmond, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Lorraine was born in Winner, SD on October 27, 1940 the daughter of Raymond and Esther Krugman Shepherd. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Decatur. She received her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Midwestern State University. She was a member of Decatur PEO, Decatur Symphony Guild, and was a faithful member of the Stephen Ministry at her church, and worked as a Registered Nurse for Decatur Memorial Hospital Corporate Health. Lorraine and Frank were married on June 17, 1962 in Niagara Falls, NY.
Lorraine is survived by: her husband, Frank R. Houmiel, her daughters, Karen Elizabeth Houmiel of Schaumburg, Kathryn Lorraine Houmiel, Ph.D. of Seattle, WA., Martha Houmiel and Dr. Peter Carr also of Seattle, WA., her mother, Esther K. Shepherd of Grand Junction, Colorado, her brothers, Maynard Shepherd of Baltimore, MD. and Conner Shepherd, Ph.D. of Denver, CO., her sister, Carolyn Conlee of Seattle, WA., and her grandson, Conner Peter Carr of Seattle, WA. Lorraine was preceded in death by an infant son, Frank Conner Houmiel and her father, Raymond Shepherd.
Lorraine lived her life with beauty and grace. She didn't run out of love and kindness, she simply ran out of time. She will be missed by every one whose life she touched.
