Lorraine R. Jackson's Obituary
On God’s Calendar, trails and crosses are but for a moment and while sorrow may last for a season, joy cometh in the morning.
Lorraine Rosemary Jackson, 86 of Decatur, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. By the order of her Creator, her soul took flight upon death’s streams.
Rosemary was born on December 20, 1926 to Marissa Olive (deceased) and Tosco Mitchum (deceased). Preceding her in death were her son, Richard Hill-Jackson and daughter Sharon Hill Simlin.
Her primary education was in Murphysboro, Illinois where she graduated from high school in 1944. She later studied music at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. She was an efficient worker with former employment at Grigolett Co, C.H.E.L. P., and as a private health care giver.
Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her family, loved ones and special friend “Mrs. Lucy” (Lucy Biggs). Her love for music extended to private piano lessons in her home and serving as director of music over several area choirs. She served as director of music at both St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church (Terre Haute, Indiana) and Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church (Champaign, Illinois) during her husband’s (Reverend Edd Jackson) pastorage.
She separates with life leaving magnificant memories of her loving husband, her darling daughter Carla Jackson of Springfield, Illinois; three adoring grandchildren, Tiffany Hill-Taliaferro (Keith), Brittany Jackson-Killion, and Aalayah Stanback; three blessed great-grandchildren, Justin, Joshalyn and JorTaye “Gabe” Taliaferro; special cousins, Janet Bunch and Vita Hawthorne.
We bid our beloved Rosemary love, joy, and eternal peace as she makes her heavenly home in our Father’s house of many mansions.
