Louis T. "Lou" Saucier's Obituary
Louis T. “Lou” Saucier, 88, of Decatur, died Monday, January 30, 2012 in his home.
Mr. Saucier was born November 20, 1923, in Venice, son of Joseph Vincent and Beulah Music Saucier. A WWII and Vietnam Army Veteran, Lou received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star during his service to our country. He worked as a training officer for the Secretary of State retiring in 1983. Lou was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, founding member of the Macon County Honor Guard, life member of DAV #17, VFW Post #99, American Legion Post #105, Past Assistant Scout Master in Granite City and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #307 in Venice. He married Alice Hagopian and she preceded him in death. He then married Judith D. Prior July 11, 1997 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Judith of Decatur; sons: Joe Caren Saucier of Granite City and David Mary Baker of Chatham; daughters: Patti Garry Javizian of Troy, MI, Pam Rich Asadorian of Town & Country, MO, Lori Bob Saucier of Granite City, Leslie Karo Lovett of Glen Carbon, and Julie Keith Voelker of Forsyth; thirteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; first wife, Alice; four sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 10 am until the service time at 12 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be 11 am Monday, February 6, 2012 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials: St. John’s Lutheran Church or American Legion Post #105.
