Louise Mills' Obituary
W. Louise Mills, 79, of Decatur passed from this life on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in her home.
Visitation will be 2-4 PM Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
“Mother” Louise W. Toney was born in Duquion Illinois., to Frances “Coco” Adams and Waiters Charles Toney Sr. She attended grade school and Sparta High School in Sparta Ill., later they moved to Springfield Ill., where she attended and graduated from Feitshans High School. She studied nursing and graduated from nursing school where she received her nursing credentials.
Louise also took Secretarial courses and later worked as a Secretary in the Illinois School District. She moved to Decatur Illinois where she attended the Church of The Living God Temple #1 PGT., and Church of The Living God Temple #2 PGT., she was on the nurses board, she was an usher and a choir member. She also was a member of the Artistic Nightingale Gospel Group, they traveled all over the United States. She met and married James C. (Boomie), Mills in 1961 and to that union a daughter was born; Minister Jaime Bridgette Mills – Leggions. “Mother” Louise was well known around Decatur, Illinois as “Grandma” Louise “The babysitter” she was caregiver / live in Nanny for several families in Illinois. She was also well known for her homemade cooking from scratch, especially sweet potato pies. In her recreational time Louise loved to play Bingo and card games.
Louise was preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers, a daughter and four grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters: Ella Louise Toney- Elbert (Milwaukee WI.), Rosalind L. Toney- Currie- (Assami) Nikiema, (Aurora, CO), Stepdaughters: Beverly Williams and Tocarra Mills both of Decatur, Ill., her sons: Roosevelt Lamont Mills Sr., (Decatur Ill.) and Julian Corey (Markita) Mills, (Springfiled, Ill.) Stepson: FeFe Frazier (Decatur Ill.); five grandchildren and three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; her best Sista in the whole wide world, Sheryl Boone Conner (Aurora, CO). Vance Davis (Decatur Ill.) a special son to Mother Louise.
